Denise Rosemary Helen Thompson passed away peacefully in her 93rd year on August 18, 2019 at Lakeshore Lodge, Etobicoke, Ontario.

Denny is predeceased by her husband Bill, her parents Florence and Leslie and her grand daughter Katie. She is survived by her brother Terry (Louise) and her children Greg (Jessie), Gale (Bob), Leslie (Etien) and Mike (Lori). Her extended family includes 13 grandchildren: Josh, Darryl, Kevin, Kate, Jonny, Patrick, Bill, Mike, Christy, Matt, Adryon, Kane and Julian and 18 great grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered by all for her cookie stash and her vast lending library of newly released hard covers.

Enjoying time at an outdoor rink, her love of figure skating led her to meet a young, dashing Canadian navigator who was stationed outside London, England during the war.  Denny emigrated to Canada as a young war bride from Chiswick, England landing in Halifax before continuing to Toronto, and eventually St. Marys where she raised her family. She enjoyed golf, curling, gardening, reading, embroidery, sewing, cooking and entertaining friends and family. When entertaining or simply cooking for family she would often experiment with new and different dishes. Denny was never without a dog – Brandy, Basil, Viking and finally Suede, her constant companions.

Denny had a love of fashion and her own unique style. She ensured that her family were able to put their best foot forward by always having a ‘Sunday best’ in their closets. The girls had smocked dresses and black patent shoes, Easter bonnets and the boys wore white shirts, short suits and brogue shoes.

Mom was a lady of quiet dignity and grace.  She will be lovingly remembered and forever missed.

The family is appreciative of the care and support she received while living at Lakeshore Lodge for the past few years. There will be an internment service for family members at St. Marys Cemetery.
