Catherine “Kay” Bull nee Buckley passed away peacefully at Kingsway Lodge, St. Marys, on Sunday, August 21, 2016 in her 95th year. Loving wife of Gerald “Jerry” W. Bull (1985). Dear mother of Cathy Forster, of St. Marys, and Susan Bull (Michael Pizzey), of Ajax. Cherished Grandma to David and Laurie Forster, of St. Marys, and Greatest Grandma B. to their boys, Alex and Charlie. Catherine will also be missed by her dog Bailey
Predeceased by sisters Margaret McGiveron (Tom), Mary Pfrumter (Bob) and brother Joe Buckley.
Kay to her older friends, Catherine to her newer ones, and Jerry had a wonderful career in hospitality, first at Wasaga Beach, then Stratford with a 24 hour restaurant downtown, then the first motel in Stratford Jerry & Kay’s. In 1952 they purchased the St. Marys Grill. After retiring to Stratford in 1977, Kay returned to work for daughter Cathy at Jackson’s Pharmacy. Respectfully known as Mrs. B she kept all in line until a broken hip at the age of 86 forced her to stop. But she wasn’t done yet! In 1998 Mrs. B. founded the Stonewillow Inn on the property Jerry bought for that very purpose in the 1960’s. Kay was an avid world traveller with Jerry and then with her daughters. She enjoyed cribbage, crochet and belonged to many groups in her early years in St. Marys. In her later years she was lovingly cared for in her grandson’s home and then Kingsway Lodge 3rd floor.
Special thanks to the care team at Kingsway, Dr. John Schiedel and nurse practitioners, Happy Valley Family Health Team and Dr. Jim Hiscock for past care. Very special thanks to Susan Curran, Valerie Vessie and Bev Graff for all the hours she enjoyed with you.
Honouring Mom’s request there will be no visitation or funeral. Cremation has taken place with a private interment at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or charity of choice. Nothing would make Mom smile like a good cup of tea, so think of her when you enjoy one.
